Interest Calculation
How straight interest works

The full starting capital remains deployed for all 36 months. The interest earned is kept separate and is not compounded.

How diminishing interest works

Principal is repaid evenly over 36 months. Each month’s interest uses the opening principal balance. Returned principal and interest are not lent out again.

Understand the estimate

Two methods. Clear assumptions.

Straight Interest

The starting capital stays deployed.

The same principal is used to calculate interest every month. Estimated interest = capital × monthly rate × months.

Interest is kept separate from the lending capital. There is no compound interest in this model.

Diminishing Interest

The outstanding principal decreases.

An equal share of principal is repaid each month. Interest uses the balance at the start of that month, before that month’s principal repayment.

Returned principal and earned interest are not lent out again. This produces a different deployment pattern from straight interest.

Use the methods to understand their assumptions, rather than treating the same entered rate as the same effective borrowing cost. These simplified projections are not a loan quotation or an accounting schedule.

Questions, answered

About your lending projection

What does the Lendy Investment Calculator estimate?

It estimates interest income from your starting lending capital, planned monthly interest rate, projection period and selected interest method. It also shows starting capital plus estimated interest. This total is not net profit, an investment offer or a guaranteed return.

How is straight interest calculated?

Straight interest equals starting capital multiplied by the monthly rate as a decimal and the number of months. It assumes the full starting capital remains deployed throughout the period. Earned interest is not compounded or automatically reinvested.

How is diminishing interest calculated?

Principal is reduced by an equal share each month over the selected period. Each month’s interest is based on that month’s opening principal balance. The calculator adds the monthly interest without lending out the returned principal again. This is a simplified educational model, not an amortisation statement.

Does this calculation include costs, defaults or taxes?

No. The estimate excludes operating costs, taxes, fees, defaults, idle capital and payment delays. Real results can be lower. The interest rate is your own input, not a recommended or approved lending rate.

Why do I need to verify my email?

Email verification unlocks your projection and lets Lendy send you a copy. Codes expire after ten minutes and each code can be used only once. Receiving Lendy marketing updates is optional and has a separate checkbox.

Does Lendy accept investments or provide loans?

No. Lendy PH provides lending management software for organisations running their own lending operations. This calculator does not accept deposits, handle investments or offer loans to borrowers.
